The Festival of Lights is one of the premier holiday light events in Southern California. Every year this famous hotel gets wholly decked out in Christmas lights, and it is a unique and free night for the whole family to enjoy called The Festival of Lights. You can walk through the hotel and see their inside decorations or simply walk around the outside and up Main Street to enjoy pictures with Santa, and all of the festive food treats you can eat. This is a great holiday tradition to create with your family as it is a free event that you can make as long or as short as you would like.

Live Oak Canyon is a loved spot in Yucaipa, CA that has thousand of Christmas trees to pick from for purchase. It is more than a farm though and it has tons of rides, a petting zoo, and other Christmas attractions, all for an added fee. It is a fantastic spot in the Inland Empire but note that it can be very busy there and that it can cost a decent amount for a family to take part in all the activities.

Promenade and tree lighting: The city will host the Holiday Promenade and tree lighting from 5-8 p.m. Dec. 5 in the Claremont Village and Depot, 100 West 1st St. The free event will feature carolers and other live entertainment and Santa will make an appearance for photos in front of City Hall, 207 Harvard Ave. Information: claremontca.gov/Activities-Recreation/Special-Events

LA VERNE

Winter Wonderland: Heritage Park will be home to the city’s 26th annual Winter Wonderland event from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Dec. 13. The event for children under age 10 includes snow play, arts and crafts and a visit from Santa. POMONA

Parade: The Downtown Pomona district will hold its Neon Candyland Holiday Parade at 6 p.m. Dec. 13, featuring floats, local businesses, schools and live music. The parade starts near Centennial Park at Gibbs and Second Street and will wrap near City Hall. Following the parade, Holiday at the Plaza will take place at Shaun Diamond Plaza, 202 W 2nd St., until 9 p.m. Information: downtownpomona.org/holidayparade

RIVERSIDE COUNTY 

CORONA

Holiday lighting: The city’s Holiday Lighting Celebration is planned for 4 p.m. Dec. 7 at the Historic Civic Center, 815 W. Sixth St. The free event will also feature live entertainment, food, vendors, a snow play area, a train ride, arts and crafts for children and visits with Santa. EASTVALE

HEMET

Christmas parade: The annual parade will make its way down Florida Avenue starting at 5 p.m. Dec. 6. The parade will be followed by Christmas in the Park at Weston Park, 130 N. Thompson St. Information: hemetca.gov

JURUPA VALLEY

LAKE ELSINORE

MENIFEE

Gingerbread houses: The Valley-Wide Recreation and Park District invites families to build their own gingerbread houses from 5-7 p.m. Dec. 4 at Marion V. Ashley Community Center, 25625 Briggs Road. Breakfast with Santa: Kay Cisneros Senior Center, 29995 Evans Road, will host the breakfast sessions starting at 8 a.m. Dec. 13. Crafts and live music will also be part of the event. MORENO VALLEY

Snow day and tree lighting: The city will host its annual Snow Day and Tree Lighting Ceremony beginning at 10 a.m. Dec. 6. Snow play will be open until 5 p.m. at Civic Center Amphitheater, 14075 Frederick St. Cost is $6 for residents and $8 for non-residents. Wristbands can purchased online. At 5:45 p.m., the tree lighting will take place in front of Moreno Valley City Hall, which will include entertainment and photos with Santa. Information: moval.gov/parks-comm-svc

MURRIETA

Santa Stops: Santa is visiting neighborhoods in the city on specific nights through mid-December. The stops throughout the city started Dec. 2, and will take place from 5-9 p.m. Dec. 3-4, and Dec. 8-11. Each stop includes a visit with Santa, but also food and toy donations will be collected. Donuts with Santa: The first 500 children from 9-10:30 a.m. Dec. 6 can have donuts with the jolly old elf. Animal Friends of the Valley will also be on site for pet adoptions. Admission is one non-perishable food or pet item. Information: murrietaca.gov/849/Special-Events

Festival of Trees and lighting: The city is holding its Festival of Trees and tree lighting from 5-8 p.m. Dec. 6, at Town Square Park and Amphitheater, 11 Town Square. NORCO

Christmas festival: The city’s annual Breakfast with Santa, Christmas Festival and Parade of Lights will be held Dec. 13. Breakfast with Santa is sold out. The Christmas Festival runs from 8 a.m-8 p.m. at the Ingalls Event Center, 3737 Crestview Drive. Admission is free. Activity wristbands cost $10 per person, and will be sold online and at the gate. The Parade of Lights is free and begins at 5 p.m. It is located along Sixth Street from Corona Avenue to the Ingalls Event Center. Information and tickets: norco.ca.us

PERRIS

Tree lighting: The city’s annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony will be 5 to 8:30 p.m. Dec. 5 at City Hall, 101 N. D St. The tree will be lit at 6 p.m., followed by performances from local groups, visits and photos with Santa, a petting zoo and free desserts. Information: 951-946-6603

Victorian Christmas: The Riverside Heritage House, 8193 Magnolia Ave., is hosting Victorian Christmas decor tours this month Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, Dec. 5-Jan. 4. The free tours are at noon, 1:15 p.m., 2:15 p.m., 3:15 p.m. Tours can be booked online at: museumofriverside.org

Chanukah festival: The 21st annual Chanukah (Hanukkah) Festival will be 6-8 p.m. Dec. 15 at the Riverside Historic Courthouse, 4050 Main St. The free event, organized by the Chabad Jewish Community Center of Riverside, will include the lighting of Riverside’s Menorah, live music, traditional foods and other entertainment. SAN JACINTO

Candy Cane Lane: The city is hosting its Candy Cane Lane on Main event from 5:30-8 p.m. Dec. 4. The free event includes a tree lighting, snow play, vendors, music, and photos with Santa. Information: sanjacintoca.gov/community/special_events

Tree lighting: The Valley-Wide Recreation and Park District will hold a tree lighting ceremony beginning at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 5 at Regional Park, 901 W. Esplanade Ave. The lighting will be followed by a visit with Santa and a showing of “Frosty’s Winter Wonderland 2” and free cookies, cocoa and coffee. Information: gorecreation.org

Breakfast with Santa: Valley-Wide will host a breakfast with Santa from 8-10:30 a.m. Dec. 13 at Regional Park, 901 W. Esplanade Ave. Cost is $3 per person. Parade: Santa’s Electric Light Parade returns to Old Town Temecula at 7 p.m. Dec. 5.  The parade starts at Jefferson Avenue and Del Rio Road and heads south on Old Town Front Street. Free parking is available at the Old Town Parking Garage, the 6th Street parking lot and dirt lots near Santiago and Ynez. Streets surrounding the parade route will be closed in advance. WINCHESTER

REDLANDS

Christmas parade: Now in its 34th year, the Redlands Christmas Parade, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Redlands, begins at 6 p.m. Dec. 6. The parade begins at Eureka Street and Citrus Avenue, traveling east on Citrus to Eighth Street, north to State Street and east to Orange St.

Miracle on Court Street: Court Street Square Park will be transformed into a winter wonderland Dec. 10-21. Lights displays, treats and a letters to Santa station will be available daily, and Breakfast with Santa will be 10 a.m. to noon Dec. 20. Cost for breakfast is $7.
