There are plenty of fright-free options for families this Halloween, thanks to cities across the Inland Empire. Check out this list for trunk-or-treating events, carnivals, film screenings and more.

RIVERSIDE COUNTY

Banning: The Parks and Recreation Department presents its “Spooktacular Trunk or Treat” 4-6 p.m. Oct. 25 at 789 N. San Gorgonio Ave. Admission is free and event includes food vendors.

Corona: Families can enjoy trick or treating, Western-themed games and activities, a haunted maze and more at “Halloweekend” beginning at 5 p.m. Oct. 11 at the Historic Civic Center, 815 W. Sixth St. A screening of “Rango” will begin at 7 p.m.

Eastvale: The city presents “Eek!Vale Halloween Festival” from 4-10 p.m. Oct. 18 at 13200 Citrus St. The free event features a haunted maze, trunk-or-treating, a children’s costume contest and more.

Hemet: Enjoy costume contests, guessing games, cookie decorating and more at the “Halloween Block Party” beginning at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 18 at Valley Vista Community Center, 43935 Acacia Ave. The costume contests begin at 4 p.m. The event is free and food will be available for purchase.

Jurupa Valley: The Jurupa Area Recreation and Park District presents its annual “Spooktacular” with carnival games, jack-o-lantern races, costume contests and more from 4-9 p.m. Oct. 25 at Rancho Jurupa Regional Sports Park, 5249 Crestmore Road. Wristbands for unlimited attractions are available for $5 online at www.jarpd.org.

Lake Elsinore: Candy, costumes and more will be featured at the annual trunk or treat beginning at 5 p.m. Oct. 11 on Downtown Main Street.

Menifee: The city’s “Fall Festival” will feature live entertainment, food and craft vendors and more can be found 4-8 p.m. Oct 25 at Mt. San Jacinto College, 28237 La Piedra Road. The event is free for all to attend. Bring a full-sized toiletry item to support Domestic Violence Awareness Month and receive a free kid-zone wristband.

Murrieta: The “Halloween Spooktacular” is presented as a safe alternative to trick or treating, featuring free carnival games, candy, bounce houses and more 5-7 p.m. Oct. 31 at Rancho Bella Vista Community Center, 3​​1757 Browning St.

Perris: Enjoy games, costume contests and more at the “Harvest Festival” from 5-9 p.m. Oct. 17 at the City Hall lawn, 101 N. D St. Admission is free. Bring a pre-carved jack-o’-lantern to enter a pumpkin carving contest.

Riverside: Parks across Riverside are hosting events that will feature trick or treating, carnival games and other activities. Admission is free, but some booths may charge a small fee. The schedule is:

  • Oct. 11: Eastside Fall Festival, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Bordwell Park, 2008 Martin Luther King Blvd. Funzone area is $3 cash.
  • Oct. 17: “Boo Bash in the Crest,” 5-8 p.m., Orange Terrace Park, 20010 Orange Terrace Parkway.
  • Oct. 18: “Halloween Spooktacular,” 5:30-8:30 p.m., Reid Park, 701 N. Orange St.
  • Oct. 23: “Spooky Spooktacular Festival,” 5-8 p.m., Hunt Park, 4015 Jackson St.
  • Oct. 24: “Halloween Carnival,” 6-8 p.m., Villegas Park, 3091 Esperanza St.
  • Oct. 25: “Youth Sports Spooktacular,” 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Arlington Heights Sports Park, 9401 Cleveland Ave.
  • Oct. 29: “Halloween Carnival,” 5-8 p.m., Nichols Park, 5505 Dewey Ave.
  • Oct. 31: “Ghoul’s Night Out,” 5-7 p.m., Bryant Park, 790 Philbin Ave.

Temecula: The city’s annual Halloween carnival is 5:30-8:30 p.m. Oct. 24 at the Civic Center, 41000 Main St. Free event includes games, costume contests, trunk-or-treating with first responders and more.

SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY

Chino: Games, crafts, candy, giveaways and more will be presented at the city’s “Halloween Spooktacular” from 4-9 p.m. Oct. 31 at Ruben S. Ayala Park, 14225 Central Ave. Carnival wristbands are available for $10 online at cityofchino.org/halloween or on-site for $12.

Chino Hills: Youngsters can enjoy trick or treating 3-5 p.m. Oct. 31 at the Shoppes at Chino Hills, 13920 City Center Drive. Participants are asked to bring their own treat bags, and activities include crafts, photo booth and a costume contest starting at 4 p.m. for children 12 and younger and for families.

Fontana: Enjoy a screening of “The Nightmare Before Christmas” along with treats and swimming at the “Spooky Splash” from 6-8 p.m. Oct. 18 at the Fontana Aquatics Center, 15610 Summit Ave. Admission is free.

Grand Terrace: Free candy and treats are available at a free trunk-or-treat event, 5-8 p.m. Oct. 31 at 22456 Barton Road, in the Walgreen’s back parking lot. Food vendors will also be part of the event.

Highland: A free trunk or treat event will feature candy and treats 5-8 p.m. Oct. 31 at Showcase Auto Glass, 26411 Base Line.

Montclair: The free “Halloween Spooktacular” event featuring costume contests, a maze, games, music and more will be held 6-9 p.m. Oct 25 at Montclair Place, 5060 N. Montclair Plaza Lane. Guests are asked to bring their own bags for trick or treating.

Ontario: A free city-sponsored trunk-or-treat event featuring games, treats, food vendors, decorated trunks, a drone show and more will be held 4:30-8:30 p.m. Oct. 24 at Westwind Park, 2455 E. Riverside Drive.

Rancho Cucamonga: “Spooktacular” will have carnival games, a trunk or treat and more from 3-6 p.m. Oct. 25 at the RC Sports Center, 8303 Rochester Ave. Activity wristbands are $10 and can be purchased on-site.

Redlands: The Olive Avenue “Halloween Extravaganza” will feature bounce houses, photo ops with spooky characters, food vendors, live entertainment and treats 4-7 p.m. Oct. 31 on Olive Avenue, which will remain closed until 9 p.m. for safe trick or treating.

Rialto: The city’s “Halloween Hi-Jinks” featuring a haunted maze, costume contest and more is from 5:30-9:30 p.m. Oct. 31 at the Rialto Civic Center on Willow Avenue between First Street and Rialto Avenue. Admission is free but full-access wristbands are available in advance for $5 or $7 on-site.

San Bernardino: A “Halloween Spooktacular” with family-friendly costume contests, magic shows and more is 5-9 p.m. Oct. 25 at Al Guhin Park, 3664 Little League Drive.

Upland: The “Scary-A-Faire” feature games, costume contests, vendors and more from 4-8 p.m. Oct. 25 at Ninth Street and Second Avenue in downtown Upland.

LOS ANGELES COUNTY

Claremont: The “Halloween Spooktacular” will feature carnival games, costume contests, a sensory zone and more from 3-6 p.m. Oct. 11 at Lewis Park, 881 Syracuse Drive.

Diamond Bar: The city’s Halloween party is a scare-free event with games, photos, activities and more from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 25 at Pantera Park, 738 Pantera Drive.

La Verne: Candy, decorated trunks, food vendors, music and more will be presented at the annual trunk or treat for children 12 and under from 5-8 p.m. Oct. 11 at City Hall, 3660 D St.

Pomona: Join the monthly ArtWalk for trick or treating and more 5-10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, in downtown Pomona. The “Haunted House at Palomares” features costume contests, trunk or treating, photo opps and more from 6-9 p.m. Oct. 24 and 25 at Palomares Park, 499 E. Arrow Highway. The event is free for Pomona residents, $10 for non-residents.

San Dimas: Trunk or treat, games, food and a costume contest will be featured at the “Halloween Spooktacular” from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Oct. 18 at the Civic Center Plaza, 245 E. Bonita Ave. The event is free.
