Kind Kid Award

The Humane Society of San Bernardino Valley (HSSBV) is proud to announce the launch of its “Dr. Janice Lemann Kind Kid Award”, a special recognition program designed to celebrate children who show compassion, empathy and most importantly kindness. This award is part of the HSSBV Humane Education Program, which focuses on educating children and all members of the community about humane education; focusing on animal welfare issues, human rights, and environmental sustainability by fostering a sense of social responsibility through kind actions and solutions.
The Dr. Janice Lemann Kind Kid Award shines a spotlight on young members of our community who go above and beyond to make a positive impact around them. Dr. Janice Lemann was a tireless promoter of the value of nurturing youth with responsibilities and compassion learned from the care and love of animals. Promoting Kind Kids will continue the spirit of those valuable lessons. Whether it is helping their loved ones, friends, animals, or showing kindness to everyone around them, they are making a difference in the community.
Parents, friends, teachers and community members are encouraged to fill out a nomination application. After careful review of all applications, the Humane Society of San Bernardino Valley will select one outstanding nominee to receive the Dr. Janice Lemann Kind Kid Award. Nominations officially open on September 1, 2025 and will close November 30, 2025.
The nominee receiving the Dr. Janice Lemann Kind Kid Award will be recognized with a certificate; special feature on our social media platforms as well as our quarterly newsletter, inspiring others to follow their example of kindness; receive a $100 scholarship in memory of Dr. Janice Lemann; and will be honored as the Hero of the Night, January 4, 2026 during our Night at the Ontario Reign hockey game.
