CalJam 2018 Thoughts & Photos

CalJam 2018 Thoughts & Photos

When I heard the Foo Fighters were bringing CalJam back to Glen Helen for the second year I knew I had to go. The first CalJam put on by the Foo Fighters was in 2017, although the name goes back to 1974 when the first California Jam was held at the old Ontario Motor Speedway.…more

Shinedown at the RMA – Photos

KCAL presented Shinedown last Thursday at the Riverside Municipal Auditorium (RMA) and man, what a show. I think we all knew it was going to be a great show – and we were right. First of all, that voice. Brent Smith’s vocal abilities are insane. You know how when you go to see a show for…more

Ozzfest Meets Knotfest Photos – Day 1

This past weekend Ozzfest Meets Knotfest hit Glen Helen Amphitheater again for what has become one of the most anticipated festivals in Southern California. As always, Ozzfest, headlined by Ozzy himself, is Saturday and Knotfest, usually headlined by Slipknot, is Sunday. In this post I will focus on Ozzfest, but you can find the day…more

In This Moment, with Of Mice & Men and Avatar, at the RMA

Cal Jam Fest Photos

The show was amazing, Foo Fighters got a bunch of their friends together to come out and rock the IE last Saturday night in Devore and even evoked the ghosts of IE festivals of long ago by resurrecting the Cal Jam name. Of course, our very own stud KCAL concert photographer (and Sunday morning DJ) Razz was there to take the shots. Enjoy!more

Parkway Drive and Guests at the RMA – Photos

Monday night at the Riverside Municipal Auditorium was a night for Metalcore fans, as Australian band Parkway Drive hit the IE. It seems like there are a lot bands coming to town lately that are on my bucket list of bands to photograph, and Parkway Drive was one more. This is one of the tightest Metalcore bands I have seen, and they are great live. I loved the stage setup too – with no amps. It was just clean open space, and they used every part of it. Lighting at RMA isn’t always great, I sometimes think someone is just randomly hitting buttons, but for Parkway Drive …more

Paul Stanley’s ‘Soul Station’ at The Roxy

Paul Stanley’s ‘Soul Station’ at The Roxy

This past Friday something VERY unusual happened. You may have heard the recent interview Stu, Tiffany & Jimbo with KISS’ Paul Stanley regarding his new side project, Paul Stanley’s “Soul Station“. Jimbo & I went down to the Roxy to catch the show, and despite the shoulder to shoulder crowd, we had a blast. This is…more

A Young Voice with a Classic Sound – Meet Gabbie Rae

You may recall that last year’s musical artist at the Stu, Tiffany, & Jimbo Holiday Ball was Great White. If you were there, then you know how good they sounded. Well, after photographing that event for KCAL, I wanted to take more photos of the band, and I saw that they were playing at the…more
