Foo Fighters Cancel Abu Dhabi Show Due To ‘Unforeseen Medical Circumstances’

Foo Fighters called off their concert at the F1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Sunday, December 12, due to “unforeseen medical circumstances.”

The organizers did not offer any further details about the medical issue. They only stated that the Dave Grohl-fronted band were “unable to travel” to the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi to mark the end of the Formula 1 season.

“The band apologizes for any inconvenience or disappointment caused by this unexpected turn of events,” the statement added.

The controversial final race saw Red Bull driver Max Verstappen overtake Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton on the final lap to snatch victory in the Drivers’ Championship.

In an exclusive interview with Emirati-state linked The National, concert promoter John Lickrish recalled receiving the news at 2:30 am UAE time on Friday.

“It was the band’s management telling me that once the plane landed a member of the band had to be rushed to a hospital in Chicago,” Lickrish said. “My immediate reaction was to see if the person and the band were OK.”

“Then the situation really hit me because the advance team from the Foo Fighters were already here in Abu Dhabi,” he added. “The show was being set up, even the band’s gear had arrived.”
