A diverse group of special guests including Billy Idol, Perry Farrell and Corey Taylor will perform at the third Above Ground benefit concert on December 20 at The Fonda Theater in Hollywood, California.
Etty Lau Farrell, Taylor Hawkins, Mark McGrath, Steve Stevens and Franky Perez will also join them as special guests.
The annual Above Ground benefit concert, organized by Dave Navarro of Jane’s Addiction and Billy Idol guitarist Billy Morrison, raises money for the MusiCares charity.
As in 2018 and 2019, the Above Ground performers will play songs off two seminal albums, featuring one American artist and one British artist, in its entirety. This year’s selections are Lou Reed ‘s Transformer (1972) and Sex Pistols‘ Never Mind the Bollocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols (1977).
Special guests will celebrate the vinyl album as an art form, as well as raise awareness and funds for the treatment of mental health. Profits from the event will be donated to MusiCares, the leading music charity that acts as a safety net for the music community.
The event was cancelled in 2020 because of Covid.
