One of the biggest rock festivals to hit the Golden State – Aftershock! Featuring some of the biggest names in rock like Metallica, The Misfits and Rise Against along with up-and-coming artists like cleopatrick, Knocked Loose, grandson and so many more!
The 4-day festival took over Sacramento and welcomed 145,000 fans in a record-setting event to rock out at Discovery Park and I was lucky enough to be one of the people that got to attend this incredible, sold-out festival. For me, Aftershock was a bucket-list festival to attend, it’s right up my alley with a wide variety of rock bands to see and the amazing community of fans surrounding the scene to enjoy the show with.
Attending this festival checked a bunch of things off of my bucket list like:
driving a U-Haul truck around a new city
attending a festival with media credentials
eating LOTS of food from concessions
flying solo and manuevering an airport on my own
booking an AirBnB
seeing some of the coolest rock bands ever for the first time, including Metallica TWICE!
I’ve always wanted to travel long distance for a show, and luckily enough I had the opportunity to do that and it was an incredible experience!
Day 1: It was fun seeing familiar faces open up the KOLAS Stage, Destroy Boys and Knocked Loose kicked off the festival for the day 1 rockers, Anthrax and Cypress Hill carried us into what would be an unforgettable weekend of music!
Day 2: First time seeing Skillet was fun, Dropkick Murphys and Rancid gave people a taste of what their co-headlining tour was like and Metallica blew me away!
Day 3: Bones UK kicked off my day, Badflower rocked the hell out of the KOLAS Stage and MGK drove the crowd wild with his set!
Day 4: In This Moment put on a theatrical, powerful set, grandson kicked ass at the Coors Light Stage, Rise Against was amazing as always and Metallica closed day 4 in the best way possible!
I’m still in shock that I was there, it seems so crazy, but I have pictures, videos and LOTS of merch to remind me of the time I spent in Sacramento, singing along to songs from a bunch of my favorite bands, along with a huge crowd of excited fans. It felt so good to be back at a festival!
Shout out to U-Haul for the rental and most importantly the team with Aftershock and Danny Wimmer Presents for extending this opportunity. It was truly an honor to be there, representing KCAL, rocking out with thousands of people so thank you for letting me be the girl at the rock show!
