Inland Empire Waterkeeper will lead free, bilingual workshops for low-water landscaping practice known as SmartScape.

Master gardener will cover the basics for water-wise garden design and maintenance
WHAT: Inland Empire Waterkeeper, a chapter of Orange County Coastkeeper, will host an array of inclusive, family-friendly and free workshops in the Inland Empire to teach community members about water-wise gardening all summer long. The SmartScape Program is partnering with Eastern Municipal Water District to promote resource-efficient landscaping that features drought-tolerant plant design, cutting-edge technology, and sustainable landscape management practices.

Coastkeeper Garden Director will lead the conversation in how to save time, money and water at homes across the Inland Empire.

WHY: By engaging in sustainable water practices at home, residents can help the Inland Empire reduce water demand and water waste.

WORKSHOPS:
Butterflies and Birds! (Bilingual) – Moreno Valley Library, July 26 at 4 p.m.: This hands-on workshop features easy things you can do to make your garden bird and pollinator friendly.

Butterflies and Birds! (Bilingual) – Menifee Senior Center, July 31 at 12:30 p.m.: This hands-on workshop features easy things you can do to make your garden bird and pollinator friendly.

Water Wise Gardening for the Inland Empire (Bilingual) – Perris Senior Center, August 8 at 10:30 a.m.: Discover the power of properly prepared soil, water-thrifty long-lasting bloomers, benefits of mulch, and simple design techniques to create stunning flower beds or pots.

Spice Things Up with Herbs! (Bilingual) – Perris Senior Center, August 15 at 10:30 a.m.: This hands-on workshop teaches community members that fresh herbs can be grown all year in containers or mixed into garden beds using less water and no chemicals or pesticides.
