Last Saturday, Self Help Festival hit the National Orange Events Center show for a full day of music. This is third Self Help Fest, with last year’s being the first, followed by a 2nd show in Philadelphia. The entire day is filled with great hardcore music. If you missed it, make sure you bookmark their site. You won’t want to miss it again next year.
Presented by the band A Day To Remember, the lineup this was great. ADTR didn’t play this, although lead vocalist Jeremy McKinnon did join Pierce The Veil on stage.
The festival is run on two stages. The outdoor Red Stage is the main stage where the headliners play, while the indoor Black stage has some of the lesser known acts. That said, the crowd knew every band.
Lighting this year was tough, in fact it may have been one of the hardest shows I have shot. The main stage was fine for the headlines, but inside was dark – I guess I know the meaning of the “Black Stage”. Some acts had no, and in zero, front lighting. Still, it made for some fun creative shots.
The lineup this year included these bands, just to name a few:
Assuming We Survive
This Wild Life
The Devil Wears Prada
Falling In Reverse
Sleeping With Sirens
Pierce The Veil
Below are two galleries of shots from the day, one from me, and the other from Jose Negrete who shot the festival with me. He’s also a staff photographer for Coachella this year (envious). After going through one gallery, be sure to look at the second, and I hope you enjoy the shots!
