96.7 KCAL Rock and Minor League Baseball Player Vance Albitz are teaming up to collect new or used gloves, balls, and money donations for soldiers overseas.

Albitz, a shortstop in the Minor Leagues, was featured in an ESPN article about how he started collecting baseball gloves to send overseas to US Military troops. “I read somewhere that soldiers get lonely and board…these guys are putting their lives on the line for us. I just thought somebody ought to thank them for it” Albitz read an article in which a soldier was asked what he’d most like to have sent to him. “Two gloves and a baseball” the soldier replied. Something clicked in Albitz brain. He has sent over 750 gloves this offseason so far. Albitz has set a goal of collecting 1,000 gloves and balls to send overseas. That's where we are asking you to help us collect as many gloves, balls, and caring letters for our brave troops overseas.

We will be collecting donations here at the station. Any donations of a new/used gloves, balls or even just something as simple as a letter would be greatly appreciated and thanks to the Los Angeles Angels you'll score a 4-pack of tickets to an Angels game for this upcoming season, while supplies last,  where you can experience the excitement of Angels Baseball in 2013!  Rookie of the Year Mike Trout, Albert Pujols and Josh Hamilton form one of the most potent lineups in all of baseball.  Single Game Tickets go onsale Saturday, February 23rd!  For more information visit angels.com

We'll also be out at:

In case you can't make it to the station to donate.

Many soldiers have already expressed their gratitude for the small mementos from home. Albitz has been overwhelmed with how many people want to send just a slice of simple Americana to soldier’s overseas. We need to keep the gloves coming.

Please us here at 96.7 KCAL Rocks, Gloves4Troops.com and Albitz in collecting donations until Tursday, February 14th, 2013 at The KCAL FM Studio’s. We open from 8:30am to 5pm located at 1940 Orange Tree Lane Suite #200 in Redlands. Like Stu-man always says "Rockers Step Up!"
