KCAL Studios 1983

WHOA! Thank God for computers! This was during my 3rd year at KCAL…pre-computers, CD players, speaker phones, all that. History buffs will enjoy the Rock Spectrum logo, turntables, Pup ‘n Taco cup, tails (whatever), hemp Vans, Dick Tracy watch and glasses that cover the entire face.

Also, see what record I’m playin’? Remember Pete Shelley? Yeah, me neither. This was during the days when KCAL leaned a little “new wave”. Other artists we played: Tears For Fears, Oingo Boingo and Michael Jackson (c’mon… Eddie was on guitar).

Lacey- By the way, I agree with you on the comment Thank God for computers. I also occasionally mobile DJ and I was getting a workout not only hauling equipment around, but also tons of CDs. Now in place of the CDs I haul around a laptop and an external hard drive that is about the size of a paperback book. Every single CD and song I have is on the hard drive. It can store thousands of songs. I also found some really good radio automation software I can run on the laptop. I can manually play songs or have it on auto pilot. It can also play spots at certain times.

You’re still at K-CAL? I heard you ran off to South America with David Lee Roth and the band was so devastated they brought in Sammy Hagar…. anyway, I’m glad it never happened. I’ve been in Hawaii for the last twenty years, news from afar washes up on our shores from time to time. Apparently Jerry Garcia is still dead and Ritchie Blackmore insists on dressing like Peter Pan and playing renaissance music for dorks in tights….what’s the world coming to. Keep the faith. Peace.
