So have you heard?  Joe Torre is now in the mix to be the owner of the Dodgers.  He resigned his MLB position as Executive V.P. of Baseball Operations to join in the bid for ownership of the Dodgers.  He is part of a group led by Los Angeles developer Rick Caruso.  One of Caruso’s L.A. ventures is the most awesome shopping center, The Grove.

The time line:  The deadline to submit bids for the club is January 23rd.  Loser Frank McCourt has to select the winning bidder by April 1st.  The sale of the team must close by April 30th.  Hopefully, all of this will come sooner than this time line.  Why?  Because the Dodgers first game of the 2012 season is April 5th in San Diego.

I would love to see the Joe Torre thing happen!  Having a native Los Angeleno developer (Caruso) behind Torre sounds like a winning team to me.  Let’s play ball!
