There is Animal Kingdom as he wins the 137th Kentucky Derby on Saturday.

Ever hear of horsey spa treatment?  It does exist!  Sounds pretty nice, too.

So what has Derby winner Animal Kingdom being doing this week?  He has been getting special daily spa treatments that include soaking in cold saltwater which his trainer says feels very, very to good to a horse.  The soak also helps the horse’s muscles to recover.  They are preparing Animal Kingdom for the next big race.

His bed got a makeover, too.  They have filled his stall with a lot more straw to make a very cushy bed.  The goal is to  maximize comfort.

The next big race is the Preakness Stakes on May 21st in Baltimore.  It’s the second of the three races in the Thoroughbred Triple Crown which concludes with the Belmont Stakes in Elmont, New York on June 11th.

By the way, the last horse to win the Triple Crown was Affirmed in 1978.  That’s him in the photo above.

“A horse is a horse, of course, of course,
And no one can talk to a horse, of course,
Unless, of course, the horse, of course,
Is the famous Mr. Ed!”

Just thought I’d finish the song for ya!
