With Green Day’s lead singer in rehab for the rest of the year, someone had to step up and headline the big Voodoo Experience show in New Orleans for them. October 22nd, 1990. Pearl Jam’s first live show at a little place called the Off Ramp Cafe in Seattle. Except they weren’t called Pearl Jam yet, they were Mookie Blaylock. And Eddie Vedder had just joined up with them a couple of weeks before and, although they hadn’t recorded any yet, they’d written some really great songs. Like this one, the very first live performance of Black by a very shy looking Eddie. Pretty damn cool that someone had a camcorder recording, ain’t it? And big thanks to Rolling Stone Magazine’s web site, from which I stole this post!
