We’re just a couple of days away from the final KCAL Kegger of the season, and the awesome Miss KCAL Rockmate 2014 Bikini Pageant on Friday where we’ll crown the new official KCAL spokes-model and shower her with $10,000 in cash and prizes! Some of the lovely ladies that applied have been stopping by the station, like Sarah from Riverside bringing Stu, Tiffany and Jimbo to their knees above
Kimberlee from San Bernardino dropped by Patrick’s show
Redlands own April swung by for a visit on an obviously very warm afternoon with Daryl and Kelli
Erica from Hemet brought her colorful self in studio to get to know the KCAL listeners
Michelle from San Bernardino stopped by to hang with STJ and special guest, comedian Jeff Garcia.
Upland sent us surfer Ashley, a former Lingerie Football League player!
There were no butts about it when April from San Bernardino came to hang with Kelli and Daryl
And STJ tried, but failed, to recreate the sassy “hands between the legs” pose that Cristal from Fontana sent over with her application.
Desirae is a 2nd generation KCAL Rocker from Riverside, her parents raised her right!
Despite hating smelly, short, cocky guys, Carla came in from Alta Loma and braved being in studio with Jimbo. He may have been little butt hurt.
Melissa from Ontario looks like she’s ready to work the catwalk at the Kegger!
Kristen from Riverside and Patrick posing for the movie “Frozen”. We think. We hope.
Nikki from Moreno Valley dropped by for an STJ hang!
Melissa from Fontana comes from a family of long time KCAL rockers and has hit a few Keggers before, now she wants to see one from the stage
Mayra from Riverside has the spokes-model pose down. Daryl and 4orty, not so much.
And Rochelle from Rancho Cucamonga wrapped up the parade and brightened up the KCAL studios. Big thanks and best of luck to all the girls that entered, we’ll announce the finalists tomorrow and then the Miss KCAL Rockmate Bikini Pageant happens on Friday afternoon at the final KCAL Kegger of the season, come on down and join the fun from 4pm to 8pm!
KCAL and beer go together like….well, KCAL and beer! You’ve been hearing a bit about it, and we couldn’t be more excited to tell you more about a project we’ve been working on…we hooked up with the awesome brew masters over at Inland Empire Brewing Company in Riverside to come up with a series of seasonal KCAL inspired beers. The KCAL Rocks The IE Brew Series! The first one is a refreshing light lager perfect for the hot I.E. summer that we’re calling The Riverside Rocker. It’ll be available in stores soon, but this Saturday you can be among the very first to try it when you join the Stuman and the KCAL Crew for the debut tapping at the big Anniversary Party happening at D Dogs Sportsbar in Downtown Riverside from 4pm-6pm.
As we’re getting ready for the final KCAL Kegger of 2014 (Kegger #48 overall), featuring the Miss KCAL Rockmate Bikini contest and your final chance to enter to win the 2 year lease on that brand new Ford F-150 Supercab from Redlands Ford, we take you back to the very first KCAL Party in the Parking Lot, the 3rd Of July Party back in the early 90s right after we moved into the new building on Orange Tree Lane…maybe you were there, or maybe your parents were! Everybody ready to fire up the grill, grab some cold ones, and hang out with friends and family as we celebrate the birthday of this great nation? Perfect! All you need now is to figure out where you’re gonna watch things explode in the sky, so here’s a great list of the fireworks displays happening around the IE: (click read more for all the details)
Check out this shot of KCAL at the US Festival! Thanks to KCAL rocker Sean Syfers for finding this picture and sharing it with us for Throwback Thursday. You Rock, Sean! Now, do you wanna really trip out? We recently got a message from a listener asking if we wanted an old banner of ours back. He said his uncle and some friends had had stolen it from the US Festival on a dare, and it has been moving around garages of the IE for 30 something years ever since. Sadly, the uncle is in failing health and wanted to clear his conscience before he passed away, so he told his nephew to return the banner. The nephew (who wanted to remain anonymous, but is a really good guy) dropped it off:
And here it is with 4orty and Daryl holding it. The old Rock Spectrum lives in the new studio!!!
I don’t know if you’ve heard, but Six Flags announced yesterday that after 36 years they’re closing the legendary Collossus Roller Coaster at Magic Mountain in Valencia as of August. Yeah, there are newer and crazier roller coasters, but damn, I know a lot of us are gonna miss the old wooden monster! I was there in the summer of 1978 when it opened, and can’t count how many times I bounced around in those uncomfortable cars. Might need to hit the park one more time before it goes away. Here’s some front seat video to remind you of what its like…
We had a great time hangng out with everyone at the Redlands Chili Cook-Off and Car Show this past weekend at Sylvan Park in Redlands! The weather was perfect for plenty of cold beers and live rockin’ from The Yard Dogs, plus the KCAL Chili won 1st Place!
We’re already making plans to be there again next year, and we hope the Redlands Optomist Club raised a ton of cash to help kids in the Inland Empire. Thanks to all the KCAL Rockers that came out for the fun. You Rock!
The Foo Fighters have been setting up shop in the desert to record their new album, and little bits of info keep trickling out via social media. First it was a shot of some master tapes referring to their 8th album.
Next there was a shot of Dave messing around with a bb gun, and those that have been there saw that they were working at the Rancho de la Luna Studios in Joshua Tree:
And earlier today, Joe Walsh posted on Twitter a shot of him with Taylor Hawkins and Dave Grohl saying, “Look who I ran into in Joshua Tree!”:
He later told the Hollywood Reporter, “I was a Foo Fighter for two days and played on a track of theirs that’s gonna come out.”.
Oh, and now we see that there is going to be an HBO show documenting the making of the new album!
Can’t wait to hear it!
It’s the easiest contest ever! Just take a picture of yourself, or someone else, throwing the rock horns and send it in to firstname.lastname@example.org. That’s it. You’re entered to win a trip to San Francisco to catch Metallica Night at A T & T Park on Friday May 16th! We’ve even got our new 3-D billboard throwing the horns on the northbound 215 just before Barton Road.
The KCAL Rockers have been sending in some great shots, from some great locations, and with some great guests so far. Check out a bunch of them here. And a bunch more here. But be sure to get yours in by Tuesday the 29th at midnight, because we find out who’s gonna win on Stu, Tiffany, and Jimbo’s show on Wednesday the 30th!
So, Show Us Your Horns Inland Empire…You Rock!
I had a blast judging the 2014 San Bernardino High School Mr. Cardinal Competition yesterday! I was so impressed with all of the contestants especially Samuel Moreno who won the whole thing! He will now represent SBHS at over 100 charity events over the next year! Go Cardinals!
And yeah I am wearing a suit! Can you believe it!?
