The audience consisted of about 120 scientists and contest winners, and because of the “fragile environment”, the music couldn’t be amplified in the traditional sense. Instead, amplifiers were enclosed in isolation cabinets, and the crowd had to listen though HEADPHONES.

Last weekend I had the chance to see something special. Bass Player LIVE! 2013 was a 2 day event in Hollywood, including musician clinics and exhibitors during the day, and an awards show and concert Saturday night at the Fonda Theater. I knew going in that the list of players nothing short of impressive, but I had no idea what I was in for. Starting with the Red Carpet arrivals, it was a Who’s Who of Music, Metal, and Bass. That’s Zakk Wylde above, with Black Label Society bassist John “JD”…

I went to see Helmet last Saturday and they rocked. The only thing that sucked is they did not play my favorite song Unsung. Have you ever been to a show where they didn’t play your favorite?
We know that Motley Crue promised that their new set of shows at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas were going to be dangerous, and with a show name “An Intimate Evening in Hell”, we probably should’ve guessed there would be lots of pyrotechnics. According to the review of opening night, there is no lack of fire! Here’s a bit of not so great cell phone video for you too:
So, if you’re heading out to Sin City to catch one of the shows, and especially if you were one of our lucky winners of those killer VIP package, don’t forget to pack the fire-proof undies!
