Who knew? Apparently Pink Floyd made an official promo video for Money from the legendary Dark Side of the Moon album back in 1973, but it has somehow managed to not be available on the internet until now. So let’s check it out and see how they did with the 41 year old technology:
You know, I’ve seen worse!
Soundgarden’s legendary Superunknown album is celebrating its 20 anniversary this year, so Chris Cornell is breaking out some details about it that you probably didn’t know…like the clown that inspired the album’s name! Here’s some more on the album from Rolling Stone magazine
It was 17 years ago, and the Angels had those ugly old Disney uniforms, but Jim Edmonds made the one of the most amazing catches ever!
Time to break out the ol’ acid washed jeans, prop that boom box up on your shoulder, and crank up an 80s At The Top Weekend powered by Quaid Harley-Davidson in Loma Linda! Starting Friday afternoon at 4pm, we’re blasting out double shots of great 80s KCAL rock at the top of every hour all weekend long! Plus, we’ve got you tickets to catch Kiss and Def Leppard in one of the hottest shows of the summer live at The Forum next month. Listen for your chance to win on the air, and be sure to stop by Quaid in Loma Linda sometime between Friday at noon and quitting time on Sunday night to sign up to win a bonus pair of tickets we’re giving away there too! We’ll be drawing the winner on Tuesday morning with Stu, Tiffany, and Jimbo.
I don’t know if you’ve heard, but Six Flags announced yesterday that after 36 years they’re closing the legendary Collossus Roller Coaster at Magic Mountain in Valencia as of August. Yeah, there are newer and crazier roller coasters, but damn, I know a lot of us are gonna miss the old wooden monster! I was there in the summer of 1978 when it opened, and can’t count how many times I bounced around in those uncomfortable cars. Might need to hit the park one more time before it goes away. Here’s some front seat video to remind you of what its like…
If you were watching the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on HBO this past weekend, you may have seen this little preview of the new series “Sonic Highways” coming this fall. That is the series that Dave Grohl is producing that showcases the making of the new Foo Fighters album, which was recorded in 8 different studios in 8 different cities across the country. We know the album is coming out in November, and now we can’t wait to hear it!!!
We had a great time hangng out with everyone at the Redlands Chili Cook-Off and Car Show this past weekend at Sylvan Park in Redlands! The weather was perfect for plenty of cold beers and live rockin’ from The Yard Dogs, plus the KCAL Chili won 1st Place!
We’re already making plans to be there again next year, and we hope the Redlands Optomist Club raised a ton of cash to help kids in the Inland Empire. Thanks to all the KCAL Rockers that came out for the fun. You Rock!
For the second year in a row, Metallica hosted Metallica Night at AT&T Park in San Francisco a couple of weeks ago. And once again this year we sent a lucky KCAL Rocker up to enjoy the fun and a great weekend in the City By The Bay. But if you didn’t win, the band is offering up a free download of their version of the National Anthem they performed before the game. Watch it on the video below, and then grab the MP3 here!
A little something for you as we kick into a Zep At The Top Weekend, it isn’t very often that you get to hear a rare previously unreleased instrumental song that Led Zeppelin recorded during the session for Zep II, but that is exactly what you have above. It’s a song called “La La” and it is included on the companion disc on the Led Zeppelin II re-issue coming out on Tuesday. Part of it sounds absolutely “Zeppy” and part absolutely doesn’t. Listen for your chance to win ‘em before you can buy ‘em all weekend. And catch the special with more of the cool stuff you’ll be getting on the re-issues of the first 3 albums and interviews with Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones tonight at 11pm with Patrick and then again on Sunday morning at 7am with Razz. Enjoy the Hammer of the Gods dropping on the IE at the top of every hour this weekend!
Here’s some more details on the previously unreleased tune from Rolling Stone magazine.
